Walking meditation as a modern way to a healthier life.

Meditation is always associated with solitude, quiet, and physical inactivity. When talking about meditation, can usually come with a scenario in which one finds in a remote area, closes his eyes in silence, and his body is at work in his mind. Has meditation always be like this?
